Google Ads vs Meta Ads for small businesses: which first?
Should your first ad rupee go to Google or Meta? A framework based on how your customers actually search and browse.

This is one of the most common questions we get from business owners with a limited budget: start with Google Ads or Meta Ads? The honest answer is "it depends on intent" — here's how to think about it.
Google Ads: capture existing demand
Google Ads shows up when someone is actively searching — "dentist near me," "buy sofa online," "packers and movers in [city]." This is high-intent traffic: the customer already knows what they want and is deciding who to buy from.
Meta Ads: create new demand
Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram) shows up while someone is scrolling, not searching. It's better for visual products, impulse categories, and building awareness for something people didn't know they needed yet.
A simple rule of thumb
- If your customers actively search for what you sell (clinics, repair services, B2B, real estate) → start with Google Ads
- If your product is visual and often an impulse or discovery purchase (fashion, food, home decor, D2C) → start with Meta Ads
- If you have budget for both, run Google for intent and Meta for awareness — they compound each other
What matters more than the platform
Neither platform works well without a fast landing page, clear tracking of what happens after the click, and someone actually following up on the lead quickly. The platform is only one part of the system — Dolomite runs the campaign, the landing page, and the lead follow-up together, so ad spend doesn't leak at the follow-up stage.
